Re: Making a shim over bucket spacer?
I have actually seen pieces of feeler gauges used under bucket shims. No idea how long they lasted. Dogsbody

Or extend the valve stem with weld and grind to length. Not something I've tried mind, just a two minute application.

Re: Making a shim over bucket spacer?
Under the bucket shim maybe ,i'd be a little cautious with over the bucket type.
I remember a Suzuki GS850 with a shim in/through the cam cover coming into the workshop in the early 90's
Found some feeler gauge type stuff wrapped around the camshaft.
I guess it depends on how much of a lip is on the bucket and how much you lift the shim by.

Re: Making a shim over bucket spacer?
Cut out a spacer by stacking some gearbox washers (figured they'd be a bit sturdier than peanut tin), and so far so good. Nice and quiet too.
Cheers
