The equivalent metric size availble is 70-90-14, theres a few on ebay, also the honda Vision 110 uses a 80-90-14 tyre on the front that will also fit.

2.75 is the width in inches and the profile will be 100% as all traditionally made tyres are.

That’s pretty close to 70mm and there is a 70/90 14 Mitchelin citi pro, the 90% profile,will mean the tyre is a little smaller in height.
There is also an 80/100 14 mitchelin pilot street tyre and so long as you have more than 10mm clearance between the existing tyre and the swing arm then it should fit fine.

Capitano, I couldn`t see that tyre when I looked & I`m not hung over, obviously just old & daft! :oops: It looks quite a good tread pattern as well, I`m impressed.

My local tyre suppliers confirmed today that they had been unable to locate a suitable 14" tyre other than a knobbly, so I have ordered one from "mytyres". All I have to do now is clean up the inside of the rim & have some Deoxc to try & make life easier. :)

Sorry I just saw this. This reply is only conjecture, coming from my experience from importing vehicles here and knowing several importers personally.

The top boxes are BIG, and containers are jam packed to make the most of the shipping space in the little container. The MDs I've seen come in are always broken down to their minimum (wheels off, bars off and tied to the sides of the bike) and they get several hundred in a container. The boxes I'm guessing are just sent to someone else to resell or what have you because they're big and not that expensive.

I used to have an old top box (mine was fibreglass and very robust) and the only thing "missing" were the original post markings, which were still legible from the faded paint. However, there was nothing "bespoke" about the box to the bike except the colouring, so it's not like there's a magic to the box or an inherent benefit to having the original box that I am aware of.

Just my opinion, if there are other boxes available to you locally for a good price, I'd get those and paint them if you so desire. The old top boxes I see are usually in bad nick and at least to me, a little too big for my liking. All subjective of course.

Thanks for the reply AE, interesting, I hadn`t thought about shipping costs & didn`t realize the bikes were broken down to get even more in a box but it makes sense when every thing comes down to money!

Deoxc is just citric acid buy it from a home brew shop for a lot less ;) .

Ok wightegi, thanks for that - I`ll see if it does any good first! The inside of the rear wheel is a bit thick with rust & a wire brush just puts a nice polish on it! That`s my job for today to find a suitable container & dunk the wheel rim in the stuff & see what happens as I`ve never used it before. I`m hoping to be amazed but wont be surprised if I`m disappointed!
