I've fancied one since I saw HB's but I'm enjoying the Innova to much to swap.
Once the Innova goes I'll have either the CRF or CB500X
The cb500x looks a very good bike. Me and my mate went to look at a couple, plenty of legroom which I like...seems a nice riding position.....a bike I would definitely consider.

HB Has had a CB500X as well but swapped to a NC750 as not enough grunt 2 up.
But saying I very very rarely go two up the 500 seems spot on for me, low seat height as well which is nice.
BenB had a CB500X for a while.
Yes but not for long, not the best for pillions apparently.

It might have a low seat height, but I have trouble because of my bad back, getting my leg over a tall motorbike.Getting my leg though is much better.

Neither is riding with Ben, looking at some of the situations his bikes end up in ...

Been checking these out for a while now......anybody tried one?
Yes, had a CRF250 rally for the last three months and 3000 miles. Very impressed, so long as you get it's a good old fashioned traillie, not a KTM enduro bike. Very happy with it. Ok on road, ok off it, good compromise.

Just to add my two-penneth regarding Honda's CB500X.

I bought a used 15 reg CB500X last May, a very underrated bike IMO.
I did a tour of Britain & Wales (2000 miles) with a couple of mates on Bonneville's and I averaged over 90 mpg against there 55mpg.
Even on my short commute I'm getting over 80 mpg
Unlike the NC700/750 this is a bike that revs so you can thrash it and enjoy it if you want to, or take it easy and it sips the fuel.
It's got a 17.5 litre tank (good for over 250 miles) and it's fairly light.

I bought my 1 owner 6,000 miler privately with full Honda luggage, centre stand, crash bars & fog lamps for just over £4k - they're under £6k new.

I got 10,600 miles out of the OE tyres
The chain is still original - now on 11,000 miles and service schedules are 8,000 miles.

Sounds good, I'm not bothered about speed preferring to just go slow on country roads like I do on the innova. Thing is I'm wanting something in a way I still enjoy like the innova, but may be a bit more kind on my body due to suffering with my muscles. Maybe a shot in the dark but I'm hoping it will take some of the impact out of my body.

Thanks for that very useful info. I'm in the middle of considering maybe getting a different bike. I love my innova, in fact I like riding it more than any other bike I've owned, but I'm hoping something with better suspension may help me stuffer less after riding the bike. Interested in the crf250l and the cb500x. My friend nearly bought a cb500x, I like my knees to be fairly dropped and the cb500x allowed this nicely compared to a lot of bikes.

I owned a few of the older style cb500's, but found them too cramped, however when you got the revs up they went from standard commuter bike to a real fun little pocket rocket, it was almost as if they had a power band type delivery once they got to a certain revs.....great engine, is the new version anything like that?

no, its got low down torque, the power dies off high up the rev range, but dont let that put you off, its quick and smooth , and returns 70 mpg +.

Yup. Great bike. I changed for the same reason as has already been mentioned - not enough grunt when riding two up with full kit. However, (and I've said this before) if I were going to ride around the world, I'd take a CB500X.

A mate of mine who was with us on the byways on New Year's Day has a CB500X with the Rally Raid Kit. He got on well with it. Not as easy as a proper off-roader owing (in the main) to the additional weight, but great for a 'road' bike. :)
