Thanks guys, so far so good. I apart from the fuel gauge issue now rectified I've had the nut holding the exhaust to the frame come loose and the speedo still not working (returning to dealers after Christmas) I've added some wider mirrors because I'm a big lad and could not see with standard one's and fitted leather panniers. Still thinking about the windscreen.

I also lost this nut some days ago.
Problem is that behind the exhaust bracket sits another nut. This second nut was loose too.
First you must tighten the inner nut - then hold the axle (left side of bike) and tighten the outer nut.
Otherwise you‘ll loose the bloody thing again.

Speedo!
Mine didn‘t work too.
The Chinese smear some stiff grease inside the speedo.
At lower temperatures all gets stuck.
You can solve the problem by removing the frontlight and heaten up the speedo with a hairdryer.
Best done in your garage and not too cold outside.
As soon as all is hot and the greasy lump is soft again, start the bike and go for a ride.
The speedo should work now.
Drive and repeat stop and go up to topspeed for multiple times.
This will push the grease out of harm‘s way.

I might add:
When the speedo was heatet up i fixed the frontlight with a piece of powertape.
No time to use the screws! Hurry out for a "hot"-ride.

I only take my Rider's super cub out on sunny days, so hopefully the Speedo problem will never be encountered!

One thing I find with my super cub is that if it's not been started for a while it takes a fair number of tries to get the bastard going! Not a problem when used regularly but leave it more than several weeks or months and it'll take about 10 minutes of firing and dying...

Anybody else have that problem?

Starting ? Yep, it will make a fuss if left, luckily I use it most weeks.. funny random metallic clunk coming from down under at the mo.. think its the
chain guard, or suspension.. but cant replicate it when stationary...

regards

Kevin

Not yet! Mine usually gets taken out in all weathers and has not yet proven difficult to start. I have been comprehensively soaked on it a few times and each time I decide to check out the screen options available. Will definitely do something soon.

As to the starting I hope I don't end up eating my words next time I use it. Especially as I have removed the kickstart after it went up my trouserleg for the umpteenth time. No, I don't wear loons (I did though, back in the 70's). Will find out when I get home in Feb.

Mine starts right away when used during the summer.

I'm never sure what works best, choke only, leave throttle or choke and wide open throttle..

It'll always fire for a couple of cycles, then die if not used.

Then you have to feather the throttle to tease the little bar steward back up to speed 😀
