Re: CG125 stuff.
First ride out on the rebuilt CG today, pretty good, just s few things to sort, dim headlight and still a gearbox issue when letting clutch out. All clutch parts have been replaced (interestingly no difference and the old basket had very worn fingers).
Amazing though, as was a wreck a year ago

Re: CG125 stuff.
Why do the later CG125 exhausts have smaller bore pipe running up the inside of the header pipe?

Ahhh T'was common on 1970's Jap bikes...
Reasons were 2 fold:
1) Prevented 'blueing' on the header and subsequent loss of the chrome.
2) Smaller pipes allow for higher gas speeds and boost midrange.

The original W650 and W800 pipes are double skinned too.Diesel Dave wrote: ↑Mon Jun 26, 2017 7:58 pmAhhh T'was common on 1970's Jap bikes...

It does work really well but the cost of replacements is ruinous - that's why Motad made a fortune...

Re: CG125 stuff.
The 4 pipes on my 1980 CB750 are double skinned and very pitted. The 4 silencers(mufflers) are OK and look good hanging out the back.
Need a sympathetic chrome shop to have a go at the pipes to improve appearance. The cost of replacements, if they can be found, would be massive.

I'd be tempted by a £300 aftermarket 4-1 system if I'm honest.Kod wrote: ↑Tue Jun 27, 2017 7:02 pmThe 4 pipes on my 1980 CB750 are double skinned and very pitted. The 4 silencers(mufflers) are OK and look good hanging out the back.
