Not my bag at all, but not quite taking CeeGee's stance!
However, here's my twopenny's worth.
Before you get involved pulling the thing apart, have you got the energy, time, inclination, and that all important thing you've already said is limited, resources, to see the project through?
It looks to me to be eminently restorable, and given there are 'volks' out there who love these things, I would hate to see it languishing outside of that nice dry garage where it would undoubtedly deteriorate quickly.
Given the numbers of these things are only heading in one direction, the responsible thing to do, is to do right by the car. That might mean it's not the right time or place 'to learn welding'.
I reckon give it a chance and find it a good home. Sorry.

Ps. Yes I'm a hippocrite. And I speak from experience. Surrounded by dozens of broken bikes... which doesn't make me feel, exactly...good?

lol newt, thing is my cousin owns a full on car restoration company with every facility imaginable, hes doing 3 campervans at moment a alfa spider... yes a 60s "graduate" one and not long finished a minor pickup, escort mk2 rs 200 and a mk1 fiesta xr2. theres a team of clever men there with years of experience. and hes already said i can pick there brains store it at his workshop... inside and do the bits i can do and get the bits done on the cheap i can't at cost. and true... if it got to a stage i thought it was to much, or to expensive, i aint so attached to stuff id let it rot into the ground. id rather see it going somewhere to get used and loved... i am very sentimental when it comes to old bikes and cars... there like people... with there own characters, hell its why i love stepthroughs. weird thing is id do a driving test to drive that but wouldn't do one if i was handed a brand new modern car for free. my cut off date for cars is mid 70s. after that they dont really appeal, no real character.

I dont like, but not as much as I hate CB Superdreams
How many Superdreams (With Rickman fairing) can we fit in it before the tank has a go?

Don't mind 2CVs at all. Just hate the Beetle - they're ugly, sound ridiculous, and many of the people who drive them irritate me.ayjay wrote:CeeGee wrote:I think it's worth getting a large tank and running over it several times until it's flat.
I hate VW Beetles.
is there a sound reason as to why you "hate" the vw beetle?
what do you think of the citreon 2cv?
heres mine
