cz chain guard and MOT
I have a couple of baskets full of bits that seems to be a cz175 from 1975. Cannot see a chain guard. I would not like to drive long term without a chain guard, but does anyone know if it is part of the MOT?

if its loose, it fails, if its not fitted, it will pass,
legally on the road may be a different matter,
i dont think the chainguard on one of those is metal, isnt it plastic tube over the chain?

no, you dont need any part for the mot, its not in the mot so only checked under structure, so if its not there it passes, joefish wrote:you only need the top part for the mot
if its there and loose, fail
part 6.2 seats footrests and transmission, the mot manual, look under reason for rejection,
a missing chainguard is not there
only loose, tight or fouling

thanks. i would like to get an MOT without spending much on the bike. So no indicators, no chain guard, use gaiters on rusty forks and I think the other issue will be the tank is very rusty inside with lots of dry bits rattling about.

a chain guard is not needed for the MOT. my brother recently sold his cub to currykev. before he sold it he put a new MOT on it. there was no chainguard and all he had was an advisory.
you do not need the proper chainguard either. My old Z2 had one made from 18swg galv sheet bent at 90 degrees and bolted to the original mountings
