Pal of mine has some fibreglass that I'll try, if this doesn't hold it together.
I buy the small kits from Toolstation and the lightweight Fastglass tissue from Halfords if needed. Use it for reinforcing top boxes and covering redundant holes.

2 years driving a Berkeley T60 as a teenager so some experience in bodging up stuff.
I still need to sort out the speedo gear drive on mine. Just been using a digital one for the past few years.

I might look up the part number from the documents you sent me and see if I can find anything suitable!

Was thinking about putting a 16 tooth front sprocket on. I'm guessing it's a 408?
The Riders parts list (page 53) reckons the chain as 428-96, never looked at mine so will have to check the Riders and Kayak too. TBH I had assumed it would be a 420 as the C90. A 16T sprocket sounds a good idea.

In the interests of good order and should anyone other than Gavin or myself look for info on here and before I forget.

The chain is 420 not 428 as the parts list.

This applies to the Kayak/Zeths bike as well as the Riders

Cheers for that info Chris!

I'm planning to head down to this motorcycle parts market tomorrow if the weather holds up

There's an app over here in Vietnam called Lazada (see Google play) to buy local products online. From what I'm seeing Honda cub and SS50 parts appear to cost buttons!

I'm sure a new fuel gauge sender unit, complete with seal, is something like 2 quid delivered!

Unfortunately, overseas postage rates, seem to be very high!

They have decal kits etc. for buttons as well.

I'll see how it all goes tomorrow and report back!

That will be interesting. You really could do with my daughter in law with you for her bargaining skills. Her parents were from N Vietnam and I've been with her to a couple of Vietnamese markets around Melbourne.

I'll get my son and her to have a look next time they visit her relations, they're here at the moment but fly back to Oz tomorrow.

Enjoy!

I'll try my best at the haggling and may resort to the Lazada app to point out the parts and the price as a baseline negotiation

You didn't happen to recall what the inner spline size of the 420 front sprocket was?

One of the things I really enjoy here is the street food - very reasonably priced (read cheap) and decent quality. Still can't understand why some vegetable dishes cost more than meat based though?!? Can't grumble at 50p for a bottle of local beer in the same restaurant!

Well I've made a few orders on the Lazada app now.

Prices are a fraction of what we're used to paying, even from China!

Here is a link showing some of the things I've picked up for buttons.

https://youtu.be/VIgah-5EwSU

It was the 11.11 singles day sale yesterday, so I took advantage of that and splurged out roughly £6 and bought and SS50 seat!

I think I spent over £20 yesterday, so there will be even more stuff in my next YouTube upload.

Been looking online at a variety of bits and bobs here in Vietnam.

Does anybody happen to know if any particular Honda model used the same rear indicator units as the Rider's?

Just put an advert up in Marketplace for my RC that has only done 400 miles from new. Yes 400! Needs some cosmetic TLC from storage, but probably a weekend or two would have it back to perfect fettle.

So if anyone is looking for a wee project and cheap bike, please get in touch.

Had a bit of a session with the Super Cub today and headed out in the evening for a 20 odd mile jaunt, was bloody freezing by the time I got home!

I've now installed the 16 tooth front sprocket, engine feels less stressed but can't say that it topped out at a higher speed. An indicated 55MPH was the highest observed.

I fitted the front position light and it all looks pretty good, used an LED bulb too and wired it into the side light wiring.

I also installed an LED H4 headlight bulb which was OK (ish) but something went awry on the way home and both the dip and beam function cut out (bulb blew?) and I had to rely on the side light (also LED) and the position lamp to get home, which, was not much fun at all!

The cheap fuel gauge sender unit and float, seems to be working perfectly. Filled up the bike on the way home and all bars were indicated on the display.

Replacement speedo drive also seems to be working perfectly as well.

Oh, almost forgot, fitted the Vietnamese bag hanger as well and the new Little Cub side panels.

Just ordered a new battery for the Super Cub, for £13.49 delivered.

https://batterygroup.co.uk/batteries-po ... le-battery

That's about £2 more than the Leoch unit I bought from CPC back in 2018.

Hopefully, I'll get 4~5 years out of this one too. ;)
