Ok I have done a TPS reset on my MGF but it does not involve sticking paperclips into the ECU :o

Well, almost two weeks to the day, and it's back revving its t!ts off at intermittent intervals again. Phoned the dealer, can't look at it for 3 1/2 weeks. What really annoys me about this is when either my truck or my wife's car had issues under warranty, the respectful dealers would provide a courtesy car/truck. Bikes ? The bus stop is that way mate. :(

I would be ringing Honda Customer Service and say you are going to Trading Standards with a view to rejecting as it is not fit for purpose. This is not acceptable for a new vehicle.

Agree, Honda UK customer services, Ive been there and I got a quick result off them with an issue on a NC750. Time to 'Kick ass'!!

I thought the TPS reset procedure was to use back probes from an oscilloscope kit to create a short on the ECT sensor lead. Then use the SCS lead in short circuit mode. Hold throttle open, switch on ignition, remove ECT short lead and the engine management light will change to a long flash. Switch off, remove SCS lead and restart bike. Don’t forget to plug the ECT sensor back in. It’s a two minute job and to be honest, I don’t believe Euro 5 has changed the ECU’s that Honda are using. I think it’s the usual smoke screen to keep you dealer loyal.
Why not sign up to Honda MARIS? For about €15.00 you could download the whole of the info you need for most of the future maintenance jobs you have coming your way.
I have that TPS procedure somewhere if you need it in full. I’ll send you the file. Funny how no one in Thailand or Vietnam isn’t making Euro 5 reset videos on YouTube as they always do so maybe that’s a clue too.
If I’m wrong, then I’ll happily stand corrected on this and maybe I’ll go back onto MARIS and get the updated info.

My 1.8 16 valve engine is not quite the same as the Grom engine..It had a MIL light on that I could reset and then the TPI needed to be reset , new Lambda probe sorted it .

I know all about squeaky wheels. :lol:

For many years I was "the last resort man". When all had failed, I'd get the call to go and fix anything on a construction site that wouldn't operate, and I've seen some "classics" , but the jobs all had one thing in common; KEEP THE CUSTOMER HAPPY. That is how I got repeat business, and expanded. I learned early, buy on service, not on price, something sadly missing these days. The unfortunate thing is, there are so few main dealers left in Scotland, and they are so widely spaced, when you need something resolved requiring a "factory plug in" you, the owners, need the dealer more than they need you.
