1973 CT90 on facebook

Post by Bobby90 » Sat Jun 01, 2024 3:06 pm

Hi, just wanted to ask if anyone knew this bike or if looked if it’s genuine?

After the Waveney meet my wife has said I can get a CT to add to the collection as big birthday coming up.

I know my c90 well and aware they did ct90, ct110 and ct125. I like the idea of the classic, they are asking £3150?

Thank you. It’s not far from me so thinking of getting it if it’s genuine.

Hopefully that works, thank you. I’ve messaged them but no response yet.

That works and the bike looks very nice, buy it quick at that price.

Thanks, does look great, realised no indicators though and for safety I prefer that.

The search goes on as looks quite complicated to retro fit indicators and likely too expensive.

Yep, different switchgear, handlebars, tail lamp as well as the indicators. The Aus Postie had them earlier but were not dual range. US bikes got them a few years later.
Good fun though, IMHO very different to a C90 to ride and slightly confusing at first with the upside down gear selection. :D

They do come with the wiring and switchgear already set up for indicators, so it is straight forward to retrofit.

The challenging bit is getting the appropriate mounts which, as you say, are likely to be expensive if you can find them at all. I'm not even sure how you are supposed to fit them to the front of the 73 (74 onwards had stalks built into the handlebars...). Pity though as it looks in very good nick otherwise (and those auxiliary fuel tanks sell for hundreds of dollars in the US)

Thank you nabs, well, sounds like indicators were an optional extra? Guess it’s the year, hard to find a good one though, especially locally!!!

I may go and take a look and see if I can live without the indicators, it’s mainly for exploring country roads during the day and I’m a keen cyclist so no worries about hand signals.

Would be nice to find a nice 1974, although sounds like this one isn’t over priced for now if I did buy it?

I wonder what people used to add indicators that year instead, any idea? As they were not fitted, I guess some wee retro fitted without the stems? Or I look for a donor bike 1974- and swap the bars etc over and resell?

Typical, I want something that’s not available :)

I’ll think you will find indicators were standard, someone has removed them. The CT90K8 I restored some years ago was from DK from N u L , most parts from CMSNL and DrATV in the States, import duty and taxes making parts expensive. Top speed in high ratio is about 40 , fitting a later 12v or Lifan engine is not a simple swop job. The CT125 I currently have is light years better even the omission of the low ratio box is no handicap off road.

They’ve also got a couple of early CT90s for restoration.
