Suzuki Burgman 125 2017 £1950 SOLD

Post by Capitano » Tue Jun 23, 2020 7:56 pm

I am selling the rather excellent Burgman 125 I bought last year.

I bought the little Burger as it was one of the bikes I knew I could ride post- prostate surgery. My intention was to use it for the whole of this year, including several trips I had organised, then to sell it next year when I was a bit more mended.

Needless to say, all the trips have been f***ing cancelled for good reason. I'm now only riding the Burgman to keep it in god fettle for riding which seems a bit pointless. During lockdown I've been cycling and walking a lot more meaning I only really need one bike this year, my Cub.

I've stuck it in this category because I do have it advertised on Facebook Marketplace (which may be a pointless, frustrating, exercise,) but for more than it's on here for.

Here's the advert text, and the same criteria apply to price etc.

Location is Shoreham By Sea, BN43

A great chance to own a superb scooter at a silly low price. This is my 2017 Suzuki Burgman UH 125 scooter. It has covered less than 1500 miles, so is pretty much unmarked. I would describe it as nearly new.

I am its second owner. The previous owner was also a mature rider. The Burgman is fully learner legal (class A1.)

I bought the Burgman last year, following some surgery and I planned to use instead of a geared motorbike, to do some trips this year.

The lockdown cancelled those trips, and the lack of riding has sped up my recovery. Hence, I do not need the Burgman any longer.

It is a shame, as it is a superb bike. If you have never ridden one, they are much more substantial and quicker than most 125s. You could be forgiven for thinking it was a 200 cc scooter.

It also has the best weather protection of any bike I have ever known.

It is supposed to have its first MOT this August, but at the moment it looks as though that date might be extended by six months.

It had its first service at around 600 miles and hasn’t reached the mileage for its second one yet. Despite that I have changed the oil for Castrol Racing fully synthetic twice this year.

It has no finance outstanding. I bought it outright. I have the V5, service book, keys etc.

Its original owner had it Datatagged. This is transferable to a new owner. I have all the paperwork but have not pursued this myself.

I am advertising it to sell quickly, so the price is non-negotiable, and is cash only, or bank transfer 3 working days before release.

Please contact me if I can tell you any more about it.

It was pitched about right, price wise I reckon. 6 enquiries on FB messenger, unlike 100+ for bicycles where I obviously misread the market.

4 were genuine, so even if the deposit payer doesn't want it, it's probably fair to say it is sold for the asking price.

Of the 6 only 2 were idiots, so 33%, about what I would expect.

I'll watch for the announcement on what you have bought.

I doubt I'll regret letting the little Burger go. The perfect bike for a season that just ain't happening. Heyho!

I spoke too soon. At the last count the tally was 10 enquiries. 6 genuine, 4 idiots.

I don't think that Bogger, or anyone that frequents this forum, could ever swim in the idiot pool that lurks around FB Me4ssenger adverts.

IDIOT1: "£1000 today mate."

ME: "I've sold it for £1990, taken a deposit and it's being picked up later."

IDIOT1: "Your loss mate."

IDIOT 2: "What is lowest you will go?"

ME: "I've sold it for £1990, taken a deposit and it's being picked up later."

IDIOT 2: "£1500 will pick it up today."

ME: "No."

IDIOT2 : "£1750"

ME: "No"

IDIOT 2: "Ok be a mug you will regret it cos I wont offer any more than £1500 when you come back to me"

IDIOT 3: "Is this still for sale?"

ME: "No sorry it is sold. I have taken a deposit."

IDIOT3: "How much deposit?"

ME: "£100"

IDIOT 3: "If you take £1500 for it will deposit £150 you can pay back deposit and be £50 up on deal."

ME: "Thanks but no."

IDIOT 3: "Why not pal?"

I just can't be bothered to sell anything these days, now ended up with 4 good bikes and nowhere to go.
The last bike I brought does all jobs well, the NC750s DCT is as close as you can get to the perfect alrounder.

Selling a perfectly good motorbike is an unnatural act.

Unfortunately I've also become addicted to decluttering so one obsession bows to another somewhere along the way.

That end of the garage does look decidedly empty with just my Cub in there today, but then again the space is pleasing, too.
