Finally got the photos up on their site ,is that an odd colour and should the sticker on the chain guard say tyre information not tire ?
And of course no shot of the number plate so you could check out the history.
My chainguard sticker says, "Tire," too. :D

Sorry to resurrect this old thread.

I saw this bike (the 5,000 quid one) whilst looking for my project bike. It really is a glamour and for those of us with OCD tendencies, it really fits the bill. As many members say: A bike is worth what someone will pay. I couldn't justify 5 big ones though. The big consideration is how much would it be worth for a quick sale? Two and a half to three grand tops?

It's a fact that prices are slowly increasing.
They're increasing because despite the vast numbers made, rust is killing them and fine examples are getting fewer. It's not quite so much wear and tear on the engine because the engine is nigh on bullet proof. It's the body work.
My thoughts are that lots of people bought their Cubs new over the last 50 years, regarding them as a quick keep runabout, a bike to learn on and then offload for something bigger. That's why they didn't bother to underseal under the arches snd petrol tank cavity because they weren't keeping them for the long term.
I've always regarded Honda as the best Jap bikes but they weren't lavish with the paint on Cubs.
My 2009 NT700 was made in Spain. The paint is great but there are stories arising of them being particularly mean with grease with the bearings on the headset failing as low as 8000 miles.
The rear wheel splines ( it's shaft driven) are also problematic only because there was hardly any grease applied.
The NT forum, of course, is warning us all about this so we can do something about it. So even on other bikes Honda the Great needs a bit of a slap.
Ah, back to Cubs.
You'll be lucky to find a rust free cub. My advice is that if you do, and provided everything else is in order then buy it. Spray a load of waxoyl underneath and up its jacksie and put it in the corner of your garage and just wait.
When the time is right then do it up and use it or sell it. It would have gained in value.
I now just have the one 1995 cub (Tojo). When I bought it four years ago it had only done about 3000 miles and still I had to rub down under the rear wheel arch and sort it. It is a keeper. When my other bikes become too heavy, once I'm in my eighties ( ) Tojo will be there for me to tootle around the lanes.
The above won't sell for £5000. Even Henry Cole wouldn't pay that for it but with such extremely low mileage and possibly one of the best examples in the country, I wonder what he would pay.

It will.. but you may have to wait some time for it to happen. They are playing the long game, waiting for the two curves to cross.

The thing is, if I were to buy it, I wouldn't want to ride it. The main selling point is its astoundingly low mileage. I'd want to keep it that way.

I reckon it will be bought by a collector, not a rider.

Thinking about it,......it would be more of a shock if it was " Honda C90 on eBay £500".

Common place not long back.

The Captain has it nailed, looking at a comparison like a tiger cub for instance, only a few years back they were sub £1000 for a nice example, now expect to pay 2500-3000 or more, with no slow down on prices yet.But will the younger generation take over the reigns when we older riders hang up our boots for good ? surely the bubble has too burst one day ? any thoughts ???
