Post by SamYamT80 » Fri Jul 15, 2011 7:46 am

Hello,

I am new to this and will hopefully collecting my Cub 90 in a week or so, found it on ebay and it didn't sell I contacted the person selling and agreed a price and is currently selling my Yamaha cw 50.
The C90 has 9899 miles 2 previous owners but no tax and MOT and the battery is flat, she is 18 years old and no rust in red with fuzz shocks for £400

Can't wait to get it.

Change the oil as soon as you get it home. I use motorcycle specific with mine but there are others available, check out the maintenance pages.

I use motorcycle semi-synthetic oil for mine as I don't do a lot of mileage so it doesn't need changing so often. Others on here have used cheaper oils from Wilkinsons and the like as they change theirs more often. My workshop manual says 20/50 SAE.
0.9 litres should do it but make sure that you don't go over the max mark on the dipstick.
Yes, the front wheel comes off easily. Will you be laying the bike on it's side? Don't forget to take the battery out first, and take the legsheilds off and obviously drain any fuel out of it too.

Oil cheap super market oil tesco value or similar ,or you could use a proper motorbike oil 5 litres of oil will give you 8 oil changes so even at £20 it woorks out cheap. Change the oil as soon as you get the bike home dont even start it (cold oil ) let it drain well . The front wheel comes off easily undo speedo drive brake cable and then pull the split pin and undo the spindle nut (17 mm). My bike fits in the back of my mondeo hatch 2002..see Rhayadar pictures 2 people can lift it easy one each side holding the rack and a footpeg .
Or what Leiba said^^^^

Trying NOT to put a downer on it , but stick your hand up above the rear wheel, feel about for ANY corrosion , especially between the top shock mounts.
They DO corrode there BADLY ! :o
The problem with the 12v economy Cubs is that the rear end is covered by that nice shiny PLASTIC rear mudguard  that covers the corrosion.
Some are good, some are really bad . :(
This fault can cause NO END of problems, also look under the engine for oil leaks.
You can walk away from it !, I know you havent bought it on Ebay , but even as a buyer on ebay , you have the right to walk away , if it has not been disclosed about any faults !
Anyway......if its a good un , enjoy. :) ;)

Cant see any Fuzz shocks , unless he's handing them over when you collect the bike ?
