Price check

Post by Gabri021 » Thu Dec 16, 2021 10:10 pm

Good afternoon my fellow Cub fanatics,

I have located a C90 from 1974. I want it as a project to build with my dad so I am pretty excited about it. However, there are some issues with the bike that I need your help with! :D

First of all, the motor is not running. The vendor states that the motor is not seized but I cannot check it because I live far (the vendor will ship the vehicle if I buy it). In case the motor is seized, is it very expensive to repair/replace? (Sorry for being so naive, this would be my first motorbike :geek: )

Secondly, the bike has rust in the frame and I cannot tell if it is too bad and too expensive to repair. I would love to hear your opinion on this too.

What do you think would be a fair price for the motorbike?

Hi where are you ? stick a location in your details .
The 6 volt 90 needs a good battery to run ,but there are not many engine parts available and it is the same with the frame . I would not buy one with rust showing without seeing it first as you need to see under the rear frame.
the later 12 volt bikes are a lot easier to live with as most parts are available.

Without seeing it and the possible rust and engine problems I wouldn't pay more than £800 for it, £1000 if it was better than I thought. If you did it up to a high standard with respray etc, it might fetch between £1200 and £1400. A 12 volter would fetch more.
If the engine is knackered you can get a really good Lifan 110 engine for it for around £200 from Pitbikeparts.

After chatting to Billyfix and having another closer look at that rear end I'd be a bit concerned about that rear rust.
You can see that it's gone right through.
There are plenty of cubs about. Leave it and go for a tidy 12 volter with the square headlight.

Hey there!!!

Apologies for the late response, I've been caught up with the holidays.

I finally bought the bike for less than what you advised so I think I got a good deal. The bike is actually better than I expected the rust is only superficial. :D

Now after cleaning it I started to tear it down and look for the parts that I need, any recommendations?

It is all aftermarket stuff which can be variable in quality, but not sure on postage if you are not in the UK.

There are other companies that sell C90 parts , some aftermarket some genuine , Wemoto ,export all over , David Silver, CSMNL to name a few . Also if you have a Honda dealer genuine parts may be available localy , Brake and speedo cables should only be Honda as the copy ones are very poor . Brake shoes ,if you can find EBC ones with e part number that ends in a G they are the best for the small bikes .
A good plan is to look on the CSMNL site and find the part number and then search for that plus they have diagrams of all the parts.
