Hi there, I’m new.
After 40 years of riding bikes I’ve chosen a 1975 C50 hedge-find to make my life complete.
My late father had Cubs all his life and it’s a iconic looking bike that conjures all sorts of memories for me.
I have a few old friends who will help me but I’m counting on some good advice here too with new friends hopefully.
My project is recently stripped and showing all the signs of major and minor metal worm so I’ll not be out on it before a lot of work and homework.
Photos to come but they’ll be best posted in a “authentic rusty bike section”
Pubs open on Monday so there is something to cheer about.

And welcome to c90 club your life is complete. May I point out that Honda like you consider it to be a iconic looking bike, so much so that they have trademarked the very shape of the bike the only vehicle in automotive history to achieve this.

This is the beast but it looks better than it really is. the swinging arm is lace and the rear mudguard is toast.

Hi swing arms are hard to find , the 12 volt ones are available from Wemoto and would give you a better choice of shocks (longer than the C50 ones ) Repair sections are out there for the bodywork .

I’ve seen the lack of swinging arms for the ‘shorts’ but I’m hoping a welding wizard pal is going to help out with a miracle transplant.
As you say the mudguard is easier to find but in need of a little persuasion to fit. By again I’m hoping my miracle worker will come up trumps.
There are issues with the rusty spokes but the rims are pitted but not terrible, solid but a bit ugly. The sets of spokes might be a best fit, either that or new wheels, but I would rather have a rideable bike not a pristine show bike.
Can you get new sets of head races or do the caged later ones fit?
