Newbie...
Hiya , just joined, been after a Nice C90 for some time and if I can arrange a safe payment option with the vendor I may well have found another toy for the man cave.... quick question for any rivet counters ( I can say that as I might qualify myself) back in the 80s what would the option be on rear racks... Would the bike be bought new with a genuine Honda one, would the dealer smack something on that he had in his dealership or did you have to go find one? I would like to get whatever it would have left the showroom/crate with, is the Rickman thing an upgrade? ..... ...thanks in anticipation

Re: Newbie...
Welcome.
Not a rivet counter and had absolutely no interest in stepthroughs in the 80's as had a "proper" 550/4.
It's my understanding that at about that time Honda would sell you all sorts with the bike from the Hondastyle range. As far as I'm aware these were produced by Rickman and the screen at least carried a Honda logo in the indentation in the front, possibly the same on the topboxes. Rickman would still provide though and I believe they made a couple of different rear racks, most desirable being the one with attached pannier loops. Not available new any more but there was one on eBay a few months ago that was NOS.
Worth keeping an eye out but whatever you find will have some rust issues IMHO. If you're interested I'll find a pic or two.
Diesel Dave did have a Hondastyle catalogue that he scanned and put on here but can't find it at the moment.

Found it. Not specific to the 90 but you get the idea.

Re: Newbie...
I've bought a couple of Cubs new and they didn't come with accessories, those were added on later and as far as I know were not Honda.
My first one, back in the 70's was given a very basic rack. It had a removeable rod on each side that slid into a sleeve on the back of the cloth but rigid, pannier to keep it from flapping about:-
Nowadays we all go for the more modern version that will still support a pair of panniers:-
You'll note that there could be a problem with the rear indicators on the second one. There are fittings that go with the rack to extend the indicators to the side beyond the rack:-
Personally I've put my indicators at the back on my topbox;-

As you say. Never had any sort of one piece but I did buy a bright red Wolf jacket in 1980 that I loved and wore for years eventually became a nice wine colour in the late 90's.damien.wrl wrote: ↑Sun Aug 16, 2020 11:43 amThanks ... some of the riding gear made my teeth itch... so bad it would be good nowadays but don’t think I could carry off a red one piece
Wolf was a local company but no longer have the patterns so in an effort to re live my youth I found one elsewhere. It's very bright indeed, embarrassingly so but my excuse is that it is worn as a high viz.

Hub gave me a one piece waterproof suit once. Never again. I basically had to strip to the waist (and below) just to go for a piddle.
