Newbie for the second time round

Post by LUKBENPHI » Tue Jul 07, 2020 1:24 pm

Hi there

A newbie here for the second time round (Been on here before but long since forgotten my log in  ) after re acquiring my late grandad's 1975 C50 after selling it in 2012 to my little brother, added bonus now is that it will be tax and MOT exempt but she'll be maintained to MOT standard regardless.
IIRC she was last taxed in in the early 80's and was missed of the computerisation of the DVLA in about '83 so she had to be re added in 2012 but kept original reg number.

Bike has sat since 2012 and hasn't even turned a wheel in anger so wish i'd kept it first time round, back then she was a runner so will be seeing what needs doing when I get here home on thursday night, when I sold here she wanted tyres, tubes, and exhaust and was slightly scabby in rear end along mudguard but wasn't rotten.

plan is to get usable then use to commute on hopefully if chassis is ok if not it will be a full strip down and repair :D

My educated guess is that you were CBFPhil, and this was your original topic:-

Yes that was me! reminded me of what i had already done to the bike also, she was a runner when i sold her as all she needed in the end was a carb strip and clean out some new fuel and a points clean and she ran quite well and ticked over lovely, but was about snatch n the gear changes so suspected the clutch wanted adjusting but never got that far I've a video somewhere too but she was rather noise as the bottom, of the exhaust had rotted out.

Out of interest as she's now 44 could someone explain the process for making her tax and MOT exempt?
