NEW MEMBER
Hi All,
I am a new member from South Wales. I have some British bikes, as well as a Honda 4004 and a 1972 Honda Dax.
I have just started renovating a 1976 Dax which came with no engine. I have tried and failed to locate the correct Honda 70 cc engine unit.
Quite unbelievable that this item should be hard to find, when you think of the number of Honda step through's that were used in this country.
I have acquired a Lifan 125 engine unit and fitted it into the Dax frame successfully, but having frustrations in wiring a 12 volt Lifan to a 6 volt Dax.
Any help would be much appreciated or can someone point me in the right direction--maybe there is already information on this site, but have not had time to go through it all yet. I am sure this question has been asked many times--is it better to convert the bike to 12 volt or purchase a conversion kit to keep the bike 6 volt in case the correct engine should come along (all conversion kits appear to be in the USA and I would prefer a UK one)
Any experience?
I have been a member of the ST 70 Forum for many years,, but it seems to be drying up----no one responds to my posts.
So was given a link to this site and eventually got registered.
Thanks in hopes,
Ken Baxter

A warm welcome to you.
You've joined a remarkable forum. I've been on a few and this takes some beating.
Where are you based btw?

Re: NEW MEMBER
A lot of forums have gone the same way, Ken. Sacrificed to mainstream social media.
This forum (and a few others) have bucked the trend and are thriving.
Welcome aboard.

Re: NEW MEMBER
Welcome Ken, glad to see you made it. No doubt someone will be along soon to help, otherwise use the search function but there will be lots of pages to trawl through. Think I might still have some new handlebars for an ST70. Dogsbody

Re: NEW MEMBER
I purchased a basket case 1976 ST 70 Dax just before the lock down as a project (no Honda engine, but a new Lifan 124 cc 4 speed engine).
I had already restored a Dax 5 years ago, so thought this one would keep me occupied and sane.
In the baskets,( 2 plastic buckets actually) were a few items which were certainly not off a Dax.
In fact they may not be off motorcycles, as the garage that the bike was in contained cars, motorcycles and many other miscellaneous bits and pieces.
So I would be pleased if anyone could identify these items for me.
I won't mention the number of items that were missing from the Dax, but that's another story.
I will update the progress of this project when I am able to crack uploading the photos.
These are the photos of the unidentified items, plus the bike as purchased.
Ken
P.S. Many thanks to Capitano for loading the photos for me.
