Hi all,
Thanks for a great site. I've been reading here for a while and lockdown has allowed me to dismantle my '63 C100 engine. I found there is play in the main bearings and a little play in the big end. The crank also has a few marks so has had an interesting life. I'm wondering if someone would be kind enough to advise on if it's worth pursuing a replacement conrod and bearings or replacing the whole crank instead.
From what I've seen on the parts diagram, there is usually a lock pin and hole on the clutch side of the crank but mine has neither. So I'm also wondering if all C100 cranks are interchangeable.
Not having much luck preview pictures in my post, I'll try again to add pictures in another post.
Best wishes
Jim

Re: First post hello
Hi and welcome c100 crank parts and repair are a nightmare.
There is 3 different types of pins that the gear goes over
Buy all 3 as you cant see what one you have,
Also the conrod kit with the oil scoop tail are getting hard to find, and a bugger to fit in the tube to strip.
Last one I fitted it came from the states.
Good luck.

Re: First post hello
Thanks for your reply Alan.
So one option would be to buy a conrod kit, bearings and pins and then find someone to recondition it.
Would you be able to do that or are you no longer fitting conrods to these?
As an alternative if I found another crank with a good big end would you fit new main bearings?
That's why I'm wondering if C100 cranks from different years are interchangeable. I can see there are slight differences.
This was my first field bike as a kid 42 years ago, but it has not run for 40 and is not in good condition. Neither the bottom end nor the clutch has been out in that time so I was surprised to see the marks on the crank. But we did not treat it well and we weren't the first to use it off road.
Hoping to get it running one day.
Regards
Jim
