Hello Newbie Here!

Post by ChristopherBoShields » Tue Sep 03, 2019 9:00 pm

Hello all! Thanks in advance for your patience 😀

I have recently bought a lovely 1984 C90 that’s been lovingly reconditioned! I’m moving down from bigger bikes and have always wanted a C90 -
I have a question about riding smoothly

1) roughly (ish) what speed should I be rolling through the 3 gears?
2) do I drop throttle on the change?

At the moment I’m jolting about looking a bit daft.
Not used to not having a clutch ?
Thanks in advance 🙏 and sorry for being dumb.

Hi and welcome ,you do have a clutch when you put your foot on the lever it disengages so the change is the same as any other bike drop revs clutch in and bring revs back up when you have the next gear .about 30 in second ,but you can change earlier .
Stick a rough location in your details ;)

Hi there - have updates location ( north london)

More questions:

Does the forward gear pedal have two positions disengage and then next gear or is it one clean press?

Was surprised how jolty the ride was so suspect I’m doing something wrong - I was dropping the revs for the change? Could something be wrong?

I'm in nth London. I can guide you on the simple things about riding and basic maintaining a cub in person if you like.
You may need to adjust your clutch too. Again a simple job.

It seems that ChristopherBoShields only lives a couple of miles from me. We're arranging for him to come round one Saturday to see what can be done to fix anything that can be fixed and to show him the subtleties Cub adjustments. :D
