Newbie in need of a little advice to get her home!

Post by Mosef41 » Tue Feb 26, 2019 10:36 pm

Hi there - new to the group having finally bitten the bullet last Friday and bought a 1987 C90. The thing is I need to collect it and wondering if I'll be able to get it in the back of my Fiesta!? :D

The car is 39 inches at the narrowest points in the rear, where the wheel arches protrude and it's 50 inches deep. So I'm thinking I could get her in the back (remove the leg shields which I presume is quite straightforward?) and maybe have to remove the seat if a bit too tight (which again I presume is quite straightforward!) and have the forks/front wheel poking out the back with the tailgate tied down as much as possible.

Does this sounds even remotely possible or do I need to think again? :o

Thanks for any advice - looking forward to being part of the group,
Mo

I once got a honda innova in my ford Focus hatch back, i had to remove the front wheel and I put it in front first, but I still had to tie the boot down.

Thanks Terry

Hi Mo, and welcome.

My advice would be to hire a small van.

With a basic ramp, a Cub will simply roll into something like a Connect, or Berlingo etc.

Thanks wightegi :P I just had a search but couldn't find anything obvious so you must be a more seasoned member of the group than me! The distance is 125 miles (one way)

Thanks Terry - that's helpful to know. Did you have to drain the petrol and oil? Petrol I can understand but oil should be well sealed in the engine, wouldn't it?

Wadda ya talking about?

I've transported a Yamaha SR500 in a VW Lupo

Rear end first, with the rear wheel where the front passenger seat would have been.

I could only find my old avatar photo

If you have to lay it over drain the fuel and remove the battery .
