Van hire can be really cheap, less than £40 per day plus fuel. Get some decent straps and you will be fine.

To be fair - I'd not contemplated removing the passenger seat! I'm going to take a look at that - thanks a lot for the idea, that should work :)

Managed to get most of the seats out the 53 Fiesta 1.4LX (just for the record in case any needs to know in future) and the Cub fitted in no problem. It was a bit of a job getting it out again but we got there in the end. Thanks a lot for the responses and tips - let the fun begin :D
