Welcome! As you say, an active forum.

There are a group of FS1E/Fantic owners in my area and have been on a ride or two with them. Embarrassingly I won "Best Period Dressed" award last time, the bike was an 18 month old Chinese Cub and all of my kit was newer than that. I think it was a thinly disguised award for being a GHOB!

I love my fizz have had it for years, oftne take it apart due to excessive cleaning lol, have always fancied the Honda and finally bought not just one but 2 lol, not sure on my plan with the older one as yet as its original and unspoilt, but looking forward to getting some gearbox bashing and crashing this weekend anyway, and if it rains I dont care :D

Welcome! :)

Did you ever do the Bolney to Brighton Runs on your Fizzy?

They used to be great events. 8-)

Circa 2012, a customer of mine said to me, "As you're into your bikes I bet you haven't seen one of these for a while?"

When he pulled back the cover in his shed to reveal an early gold drum brake FS1E I was slightly disappointed and had to admit that I'd seen lots of them, every year in May.

He said he'd bought it some years before on a nostalgia trip intending to restore it, but never had. It didn't run, was covered in a thin layer of rust on all its chrome but it did turn over and looked complete and pretty much unmolested. The conversation got around to where he admitted that he wanted to sell it and just wanted it gone. He said he'd paid ..."Nearly 600 quid for it, can you believe that? What a bloody fool, eh?" Did I want to buy it? I had to say I wasn't really interested but then he said he'd take..."Nearest I can get to what I paid, what about 500 quid, is that too much?"

The devil in me almost snatched his hand off, but in the end I couldn't do it, morally. I told him to trust me, stick it on ebay on a £1 start auction for 10 days and be prepared for a LOT of interest. To his credit, he did take my advice, advertised it honestly with some clear photos and a true description.

The auction ended at 7pm on a Thursday night for the best part of 3 grand! The buyer lived 250 miles away and picked it up 4 hours later that night for cash. :D

One of those links covers the 2012 event. Have a look at the photos. Your bike may well be in there. 8-)
