So I have been bitten by the bug...Noob post

I moved to Europe in 2015 from the US and despite the genetic distaste for scooters in the US, I have fallen love with them here in Greece. I have the opportunity to a restored C50 with an original 125cc motor installed, and I'd like to hear your thoughts and expert opinions. I know next to nothing about these bikes other than their prodigious numbers and fanatic appeal.

My plan is to make a wide tire custom, but this bike has been lovingly restored. Is there any value to leaving it stock? Should I turn it into the style I want? Should I look at a cheaper, less refined option? I appreciate your help in advance!

Depends on what you want it for really, it's not stock with a 125 in it is it?

If you want to actually use it day to day leave it as it is and enjoy it. If the brakes are up to it.

If you want a bike to pose on and show you could do the wide forks, trailing arm and wheels plus any of the many cool looking "upgrades". Then realise it's not that practical and regret it all.

It's your choice, I know what I would do. :D

Oh, and welcome.

WE do not like scooter here either , the C bikes are motorbikes and none had a 125 engine.
Get it on the road and see how it goes and what you may need to make it better .There are a lot of places in Greece that sell parts for the bikes so it is very easy to get what you want .

The stalwarts of this forum are those that actually ride their bikes, and not the fashion icons that come and go.

If you want a long relationship, like any relationship, accept her as she is, and don't try to change her. ;)

Some of us do.

Another vote for leaving it as stock as it is, I'm afraid. Actualy it sounds like a bit of a sleeper, 125 motor in an old C50 guise. It would be most fun as it is. 8-)

Welcome,

I’m new here too.
I’d suggest as others, leave it as is - if it had been restored

(The do what i am doing, find another rough frame and use that for the basis of a modified Cub).

Modded and custom bikes, 99 times out of 100 ride like absolute crap. So if you want to use it often, keep it stock (sounding like a broken record).

Should be easy enough in Greece to find an older beat up bike to chop up and modify.
