Or just call the HMRC Personal Transport Unit on 01304 664171, tell them your tale, they'll send you a form to fill out, or tell you to write in with your story, then they will issue a NOVA registration for free.
I wasn’t aware of this service?
Online description reads as:
The PTU’s main functions are
Processing notifications of vessels to be supplied under the scheme
Scrutinising all notifications and subject them to any necessary checks
Making any pre delivery verifications for investigation where there is any doubt to entitlement
Maintaining a central database of vessels supplied under the scheme for use by interested parties
Making available details of vessels supplied under the scheme to assurance staff
Issuing post delivery verifications where there are suspicions that the boat will not be exported within the time limits
Making risk based selections for verification by control staff
Being available to give technical advice to assurance staff
Providing information regarding scheme supplies for verification purposes
Maintaining a local suspect index
Advising colleagues, the trade and the public on the procedures and treatment of boats supplied under the scheme.
Remember, if you do resolve the problem by telephone, make a note of the significant details for local records.
