C90 electric start

Post by del-soton » Wed Aug 05, 2009 7:19 am

Hi, I'm new to this site, and new to the C90. I owned a C50 back in the dark ages (1970's), and a C70 during the 90's. Both fantastic bikes. I'm now registered disabled and am looking for a decent C90 to get about on and enable me to pursue my first love - photography (the equipment is too heavy for me to lug around manually!). Perhaps some kind soul out there can help me locate a decent one.
The reason for this post however is to ask the following question - Do any C90's have electric starters?
Cheers.
Del

Hello and welcome! Yes they do! The newer ones (about 2001 onwards) do have electric start! I have no personal experience of it, but i think CeeGee on the board does, and he will tell you more!!

Hello and welcome to c90 club! The Cub would be ideal for photography, I do quite a bit myself. It's handy to stop where cars can't. However most of my photo's are now taken at night in torrential rain, so the car is a must.

Maverick has an electric start on his 90. I reckon you will be looking upwards of around £600, but then it's easy to spend more than that on a mobility scooter, and they're not so much fun!

A good way to buy is look for local bikes to come up on ebay, mail the seller before there's any bids and simply ask them how much they want for it. Then go looksee and take it from there as if you were buying out of the paper.

I wouldn't spend that much on evilbay in a straight auction though, and certainly not without going for a viewing first.
Good Luck, Newt

Electric start C90s (C90M) have been available in Britain since the first square headlamp models (1984 or thereabouts)
Price is no different to the kickstart-only models, although the leccy start ones are certainly more scarce.
Good luck!

Mine's an '86 model with an electric start. It does work well, however it sometimes needs a kick first thing instead of the electric foot to get it going. This may well be due to my cub being a bit low on compression, and perhaps a healthier model would be better.
