G'day from Australia

Post by aussiec100 » Tue Sep 14, 2021 9:22 am

New to forum, 68 year old retired male from sunny Queensland in Australia. I've been into motorcycles all my life, owned dozens, mostly Japanese with a sprinkling of British. Currently ride a 2008 Triumph "modern" Bonneville T100 and have another 2007 Bonneville awaiting restoration/customization/modification. I am Vice President of the British Motorcycle Owners Association in Mackay where I live.

What brings me here? The purchase of an old 1966 Honda C100 (C100-S091147) in rather rough condition. I know next to nothing about these bikes and while searching for info this forum came up in the search results. There seems to be a rich source of info here so I thought I would join.

Since purchasing the C100 and while searching for parts I came across an even rougher 1964? C102 (C102-C052005) which I also purchased. I have attached photos of these bikes as I do not yet have any on-line storage to enable me to link to them in within this post.

It is my intention to restore both bikes starting with the C100. The C102 will have to wait a while as it is down the queue a bit and available time and finances dictate this as necessary. As work on these bikes proceeds I am sure I will need to ask questions of the members of this forum so please be gentle with this newbie.

Welcome cobber! I be new too. Get this up yah. https://www.cmsnl.com/honda-c90-cub-196 ... XYfjppByUm . It's easy to get lost so save the www address before you leave. The cost of postage seems to be through the roof but the illustrations are a good help.

Welcome to you too! That's good advice, most of us use CMSNL to find part numbers and then use those to search elsewhere as their delivery charges are exorbitant even to the UK.

Must admit I looked up Brisvegus. I visited Queensland briefly many years ago, mainly around the Cairns area and loved it. I'm a bit too old now to do it properly but one option would be to convince my son who lives in Melbourne that we need a trip there in his new(ish) camper on my next visit. Even better would be to get a rack on it for my postie. :D

I have used CMSNL to source many spares, freight is "free" if you purchase more than 200 Euro worth in one hit which I have done - twice. :?

This is the page I have been using for my bike:- https://www.cmsnl.com/honda-c100-genera ... partslist/

I have also used David Silver Spares in the UK and, of course eBay for reproduction parts. I have found that many parts are still available directly from Honda through my local dealer as long as you can provide them with a part number but occasionally NOS from CMSNL is still cheaper. Generally I have been disappointed with the quality of South-east Asian reproduction parts.
