South Bristol Byways

Post by Godspeed » Sat Jun 13, 2020 2:03 pm

Spent a few hours riding some of the byways south of Bristol. There’s a fantastic mix of easy stuff mixed with some of the most technical lanes around.
I almost got taken out by 4 guys on their 2 stroke KTMs who were egging each other on around one particular byway. Hate to think what would have happened if I’d been on a horse....

Nice one love the top box I started killing my c50 on byways near me and decided to upgrade to an old xlr as the footpegs kept getting stuck in ruts  you should try great western trail near you supposed to be the nuts

I know what you mean, the ruts aren’t too much of an issue cause you can lift the bike out, I usually come unstuck if there’s a rocky step as you ground out and can’t get up it. Went down and did a bit of the GWT the other week on the Innova. Some fantastic byways!

I have never done the Bristol byways, and I live near Keynsham. I have done a few around Bath and Peasdown on my C90 many years ago. Since my front suspension linkages have been an MOT advisory for the last 3 years I thought it best not to beat on the poor old thing, but as I have just got a new rebuilt kit I might have to venture out and find them when I have fitted them.

Hopefully they wont be flooded like that if I go. The byway at odd down in Bath had a stonking muddy lake at the bottom and my shoes were squelching for the rest of the day. Its a shame I don't have knobbly tyres fitted. It was so slippery. I ended up getting a puncture on the way back because some twat decided to fly tip a heap of junk at the entrance of the byway.

Oh yeh, the flytipping has been really bad recently. And I remember that puddle down the bottom of odd down....
