Excellent! Travelled from Cairns to Cape Trib nearly 30 years ago in a Unimog "coach" and spent 3 days in a beach resort (ie hut).
I recognised the Daintree River ferry and remembered being told that hire cars were prohibited from entering the Daintree and your deposit would be forfeit. The ferry operator would get a bounty from the hire companies when he reported them after he had carried them over.
Did you visit Bouncing Stones?
