Bit of an update, trailer is all finished, and ramp built, i have trield it with the innova and cub and they both fit although the cubs will have to go on top and tail, but i wanted a small trailer.

Terry, I always find it better to ‘cross straps’ when tying down; so the straps from the bars would go to the rear of the trailer and vice versa.

No doubt someone with lorry loading and strapping experience will know best.

I also hate straps with hooks and they can bounce off when the bike suspension bounces along the road.

Sorry, got to ask (think I know the answer). Does the trailer go through the passageway on it's journey to the road?

I had a boat trailer that used to be kept in my back garden, that needed pulling through an arch on it's side. I made a nifty little trolley to be able to do it on my own.

Yes has to go through a 1 meter wide allyway on its side , once its out it will be living at Chris's house

Good Idea, I havent fully worked out how im going to tie it all down, i still have another 8 tie down loops to bolt on if required, the picture is just a first attempt, i do have other straps with carabiner ends like the handlebar ones

Following this thread with a lot of interest as I would also like to do this ride one day ,and also a bit of fabrication in the thread is a bonus.Now don't shoot me down as I also have no experience of towing a bike trailer ,but would the rear facing bike with a screen on struggle with the wind drag ,don't want you to start your journey with a broken screen, good luck on your ride.

Culfy, thanks your right...it will probably break the screen, luckily Chris's bike will be the one to go on backwards , I will have to remove his screen before we set off, or we think if we put a block of wood infront of the second bikes wheel to space it back slightly they will both fit front ways, as its the handlebars that we need to offset.

Barker, come on down...

The block of wood sounds a good idea, as when you arrive if your like me, you will just want to get on them and ride.

Don't tie down on the mirrors. The switch gear will turn.. If the grips are on firm, and properly with the correct adhesive, Choke a rope loop or Quoit around the grip and anchor down on that. Open the throttle mid way so as not to put undue forces on the carb/ cable.

Ideally, the most reliable anchorage will be below the suspension, Ie. over the wheels. Although anchorage above the suspension,m if pulled tight, has the advantage of having some spring to take up slack, if any should occur.
