Heinz's first long rideout
As some of you may remember I believe I mentioned that my mother is seriously ill.
My mother lives in Bordon, Hampshire which is a 200 mile trip each way from where I live in Swansea.
Well on the 21st January Heinz has got a reputation to live up to as I need to pay my mother a visit.
I have done this trip on a 1981 C70ZZ 4 times in the past. The ZZ proved faultless on every trip not
missing a single beat. Hopefully Heinz can live up to this reputation.
In the past I used to go down the A48 via Bridgend, Cardiff and Newport in Gwent but this time I have decided on a different route
as there are lots of 30mph gatso cameras on the A48.
I am going to take the Heads of the valleys route. This is via Neath, Merthyr Tydfil, Abergavenny, Monmouth,
Ross on Wye and then on to Gloucester.
From Gloucester the route is the same as the old route I used to take. This is on to Cirencester, Swindon, Newport in Berkshire
and finally Bordon via Basingstoke and Alton and the 8 mile run to my mothers house.
Hopefully the weather is dry so I can get some good photos. Before I leave I need to give Heinz a good once over and also fit
the touring rack behind my top box
Im in the AA and I will be carrying a selection of spares and tools plus a spare tube and a can of fuel (super green)
The only other rideout Heinz has done is the Gower bimble last June where he covered 130 miles during the weekend

Yup. We wish her well. Have a safe journey. Stay between the hedges and don't forget your passport.

Re: Heinz's first long rideout
Oh i forgot to mention that i have ordered a waterproof USB socket and a 2 metre lead for my phone.
i wont need the sat nav as i know the heads of the valley quiet well as i go up that way a lot as my mate
is a singer.
i want to run a programme that will check my maximum and average speed as well as the distance.
will also have my headset in so i can take calls and listen to music on the way
