Ilse of Man TT on a C90?
Hello Folks, Just been watching a bit of the TT coverage and it set me thinking. First, has anyone ridden the course? Second, was it on a Stock C90 (6v or 12v, matters not) And Third, How long did it take? Bearing in mind its 37 miles long, do you think it would realistically be possible within an hour? No Fibbs you lot!

dogsbody often visits the IOM for race meets and took his cub with his motorhome, and rides the course. He says the extra gear on the Lifan engine really helps in the 'up hill sections'.

There's a clip on you tube of someone doing the course on a tuned c90 apparently dressed a a giant hot dog.

You should get dozens of answers, based on how many Cubs I saw on the island during TT Practice and Race weeks this year.
I went on my W800 so I wasn't one of them sadly. You'd be very lucky to do it in an hour. Quite a few 30 mph limits apply, lots of traffic lights and lots of traffic too unless you go for an early start. Then you're at the mercy of mad Germans on Fireblades over the mountain.

My best time on a 110 engined C90 was 61min, last year on the 110 Riders Cub with 16t g/box spkt I managed 53min. But I do know the circuit reasonably well and kept mostly to the speed limits, well mostly. Dogsbody

Some firemen tried to do 24 laps in 24 hours a few years ago, I think they failed because the bike broke down after about 20 hours but i heard they were on shcedual. Just.

Just back, did about 150 miles before a rotten rim decided to eat the inner tube, rode from Port Erin to Douglas with the tyre hanging off the rim!!!

Whoa! Good work fella, all things considered thats pretty impressive, Do you therefore think it would be nigh on impossible on a stock 90?Dogsbody wrote:My best time on a 110 engined C90 was 61min, last year on the 110 Riders Cub with 16t g/box spkt I managed 53min. Lot of variables. Rider weight being the main one, the climb up the mountain means dropping to second, back to third , drop to second etc. One tooth up on gearbox is needed, even then it will be screaming for mercy on the way down! If you know the circuit, places like Greeba Bridge,Quarry bends, most of the mountain section, are flat out. Good tyres like Metzelers are a must. I have ridden round lots of big bikes through Laurel Bank/ Glen Helen section purely on circuit knowledge, probably over 120 laps on closed roads, so don't try being a hero if you don't know what's coming up next Dogsbody

34.75 miles in an hour should be theoretically possible on a stock Cub but pass this fella speeding in a 30 or 40 limit and you'll be £200 lighter in your pocket.
