It has to be said that the I.O.M coppers I've met were all diamond geezers.

One prime example is that we parked up in Port Erin after a trip to The Sounds, and the only spaces were in "permit only" bays and a white helmeted constable was walking down the line of bikes parked in said bays, looking at them.

As he approached I asked him, "Are we OK to park our bikes in the permit bays?" He looked off over sea and replied, " What bikes, Sir?", smiled, twirled his big stick and walked off. :)

I love the island. However that's based only on two, two-week stays during TT practice and race weeks. I realise that it must be different for you residents but it's somewhere I reckon I'd like to live.

It is a tad colder (and wetter) than the Sussex Coast though, so Mrs Capitano wouldn't necessarily agree with me.

Was there way back in 1987.1st time for me,and as I was a virgin at this.Rode up/around [and very quick] on my Yamaha YPVS 350/LC Perfect bike for a 1st trip.Wonderful place, even with out the racing/bikes.Manx kippers for breakfast, few pints of Manx beer,in the evening, sat in some old dears front room at the end of sulby straight ,with others eating home made .scones with jam/cream/Just put some money in the tin,she said.Which I did.Went up the Laxey water wheel, yes it does move about.
Went back next year, this time on my Honda XBR 500.Not as quick, but lots better on fuel.[ 21 m.p.g. on the l/c] Went round in the wet, just to see whats it was like. And got passed by some 1 ,on there racing bike, its a brilliant place, and keep saying ever year,i must go back.
Didn't do the T.T Manx both times.
The 1 I want to do ,is the Southern 100 In July .Too late for this year....But Next year [2016] /?????

riding round the course on a 650 bsa at a fair lick i was passed by two reliant 3 wheelers on test with the new hillman imp coventry climax engine i believe they lowered the compression from 11-1 to 7-1 for production models reporters and riders were bombing round in them all week
