The Lakes on an Innova

Post by Godspeed » Sat Jul 24, 2021 9:35 pm

I’ve just got back from a trip up to the Lake District on my Innova. Wow, such fantastic scenery but I must admit it was a little bit hot at times 🤪
I managed a little over 700 miles in 4 days with the longest being 250 miles in a day, which I think is about my limit to still have time to go for a walk and feel ok to ride the following day. I have to say the Innova is a stunning bike, and with my recent addition of the Givi side panniers has made it practically perfect for me. As a bike it really ticks all the boxes; I did a few short sections of motorway where it held 55mph gps and then one day took it up all the passes, including the Hardknott which it managed easily. While I was up there I also rode the Old coach road near Keswick which is a 5 mile off road track with a pretty sketchy end descent. Being so light really helped; I wouldn’t have enjoyed going down that on a big bike!
Over the 4 days it returned an average of 152mpg making a decent tour not only fun but incredibly cheap.

neat trip, long time since I've been that way

I have the FI innova and was impressed with the economy returning from london to lincoln where I managed ~170mpg holding 55ish

feel let down with the tank range as 8hrs in the saddle was little bother

interested in your front bag holder, can we have some more details and piccies

:)

Hi Ally,
Yeh, tank range is always an issue. If I’m in the UK then I just take a 1 litre can under the seat which then gives a fillup at about 130 miles. There’s a bag attached to the spine which takes a Touratech 3 litre can which then almost doubled my range when I was travelling in Europe last year.
On the front I have a blackburn bike cage which attaches through the front 3 bolts and carries my bike cover in it.
Always found that covering the bike when travelling is as effective as a decent lock (though also carry and use one)
Also keeps bird poo off your seat 😂

Just a note to add about tank range
There is a modification that you can perform to get more fuel in
You need to punch 4 holes in the filler neck with a hammer and small screwdriver.......the bit of tube under the filler cap that is in the top of the tank
This allows you to get another 500 cc in....roughly
This is about a 15% increase in fuel capacity....not bad for a free mod !!!
This also works on 12v models with the same type of fuel tank
