I'd be worried about the people who fitted the bearings having pressed it together out of true or somehow damaged the surface whilst fitting the bearings creating a stress riser.
Were they a bike specialist used to dismantling pressed together crankshafts?
Must agree boo, definitaly a human error when fitting the new bearings !
I suspected as much. I really must learn how to do this stuff myself (I don't like trying to fix things myself though as I usually make things worse). As for the garage I took it to.. they said they had to send the crankshaft off to have somebody else work on it so I really don't know what exactly they've done, and I'm not very experienced anyway so it's mostly a case of me blindly trusting that they'd just get it sorted out for me
