Wanted - rear parcel rack & chrome wheels
Hi,
I know they are hard to find but I am looking for a rear parcel rack to fit my 1987 Honda C90 MG suitable for a double seat. Also good condition front and rear chrome wheels (1-40 17). Please PM me if you have any of these to sell. If postage is not suitable i would be willing to travel up to 50 mile from York where i live.
Regards
Alan

How are your hubs? If they aren't bad, another option might be new rims and spokes.

Hi,Alive_Oil_3132 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 02, 2022 12:28 pmIf the hubs are in good condition, you could get them powder coated back to their original colour and then get a new set of rims and spokes built up around them.
Here is the before and after of a set I got done.
Looks good. Getting items powder coated near York should not be a problem but previously I tried to find someone local to re chrome items without success. I think I will wait and find 2 decent wheels and then sell the white ones. Buying rims & spokes are out of the question as the hubs need sorting out also. The age is 1987 so I need to get the correct ones

I'm still of the mind that I'd look into getting a set of rims and spokes from David Silver, dismantling the white ones, and refinishing the hubs before passing the lot to a wheelbuilder.
It sounds like a lot of work, but the hubs would have been painted as stock, so it might be feasible to simply spray over the white. If you wanted polished hubs, and brake plates, this is an ideal time to do that.
The alternative is to look for a 35 year old set of wheels in mint condition, which is a tall order.
Your choice entirely, though.

Re: Wanted - rear parcel rack & chrome wheels
I feel your pain , it took time but I have found good “Futaba” oem wheels, for my 90Mg, whilst I was looking I made the mistake of sending a wheel off for a refurb , the chroming alone was £270 , if you are still in the market I may have a good front wheel for you…
If you are a bit of a **** I wouldn’t buy a new rim as they aren’t even stamped in the right place anymore .., only OK for after 1993?
