Hi all, I have been prepping my c90 for a Scottish trip later this month and I removed the battery holder and to my dismay I discovered that the frame tube has rotted almost right through below the battery . I am thinking of a new/ second hand frame so if anyone has a good second hand frame please let me know. I can travel to pick it up from anywhere. Thanks 07728 806539

A frame with a VIN number on it can not be used on another bike ,so you need a new frame that has not been stamped.

The registration number/year of the bike goes with the frame.
How do I know,I turned a 1994 C90 into a 1984 one when I changed the frame.

Thanks for your replies guys I don’t mind changing the year/reg if I acquire another frame can I not apply for a log book/ paperwork for that frame? My bike is already a bit of a Heinz 57!

You could try to apply for a new reg on a frame ,but if the frame is not on the DVLA list they will need a dating certificates and a NOVA declaration show that import duty has been paid. And if the frame /bike is stolen you loose the lot.A new frame is the best and maybe the cheapest option.

Thanks again for your reply wightegi I will see if I can get a second hand frame with a log book or do you know if it’s doable to get a new piece of frame tube and get it welded in? Do you or any other members know if it’s been done ? If not a new frame is probably the way to go … does anyone know the best place to get one? Thanks again for your help guys!

CSMNL list the frames ,if you get the part number you could try it on David Silver`s site . A new frame can be used straigh away ,just stamp the vin number and transfer the vin plate , cut up the old frame and cut out the vin and keep separate from the frame so no one can try to reregister it.You can get imported frames ,but then need to go through the dating ,NOVA and registration thing which will cost you more than a new frame .DVLA have a list of what is needed to rebuild a bike with a new frame .
