C90 wanted (South West)

Post by Assassin26-Uk » Tue Apr 27, 2021 7:32 am

Hello all,
I’m looking for a C90, unmolested condition with no rust issues.

Would like a red model around the 1990’s sort of age but am open to all offers

I am based in Swindon so anything local or near a train station would be preferable.

Just looked on eBay and had a heart attack when folks were asking for £3k plus for one! :o

I have a low mileage red 1990 with no rust issues & ready to roll on facebook/gumtree at the mo & asking £2250 but open to offers. Big snag is I`m in Harwich 250 miles away! :D You never know, if you can`t find anything local.............
Just had a look on route planner & it`s a mere 172.5 miles!

Thank you for your reply!

I’m not sure if I’m out of touch with today’s market,
But when did these little chaps go so high in value?

I will be honest with you, I budgeted for around £1200 with a little wiggle room so if this is how much they are going for I will have to sit down and have a think about it.

Yours is definitely a good trip away, I’ve only just started looking around the place but I definitely appreciate these forums a lot more than eBay right now.

If it helps, I paid more than your budget price almost 4 years ago. That`s not to say I didn`t pay over the odds of course! At the time I thought it was a fair price for a low miles bike - 5k miles then & just over 6K now. All you can do is look at a few & judge for yourself, & it depends what you want, a rider or one to do up.
The first thing I did when I got the bike home was to take the back wheel out & have a good look & was surprised at the poor fit of the middle panel (I can send a photo but I can`t post on here, too complicated for an old f*rt ) & thin paint. I assume that they are all the same with a couple of gaps here & there - they were cheap commuter bikes at the time, made to throw away after a few years! I cleaned off under the mudguard, there was just a bit of surface rust, put on neutralizer, filled gaps with Tiger seal & put on several thick coats of paint. The stand pins quickly seize & wear the frame holes, as I gather they are assembled dry. My pin had to be cut out & I have modified it so it cant turn with the stand & so keeps free & have put in a grease nipple.
Happy searching. :)
