you wont be going no were near 100mph with a 140cc engine more like 70mph. youl need about 33bhp to 100mph,, 140cc engine are only 12-14bhp standard and you wont get much more from tuning. , youl need somthing more like a 172cc which cost £1k+ to build the engine alone. and i wouldnt be wanting to anything over 70mph on 6 ich drums brakes ;)

i was exagerating with 100mph,70ish but in my town you'd be lucky to do 40 on some of the roads there so small and congested.

and as for 172 Costing £1000

And trust me 140 tuning is big, there's tons to do.and a tuned 140 would easily beat a stock 160

I saw you were into other, off road bikes, but how long have you got to go before you are on the road on a 50?

Oh! so it's imminent then! At risk of preaching, I go with what's said above, if you try to be clever/cheat on the legalities, getting caught will almost certainly make insuring a car prohibitively expensive!
Insurers are a law unto themselves. They don't mind speeding etc, in fact I spoke to my insurers on this matter a couple of weeks ago re my daughter's car insurance, and an sp30 really makes no difference to the insurance premium.
However, try getting insured after getting caught driving without insurance! They don't like being cheated (ie you have a bigger engine than you declare) and they punish you accordingly.
Although you might think you can be clever and 'wing it' now, I'm sure you'll 'step up to the plate' and be more responsible when you are actually on the road, as you won't want to risk being off it!
Oh, and you WILL be stopped at least once in your first year.... :D

acc. the more i think of it it does sound like overkill etc. especially at 16 so maybe jus try a get away with a nice 90 ported and polished, cam upgrade, zhaust etc. :?

so any c50's around?

ive seen that 1 in sale s but the guy posted them and never returned

get a 110cc in it that should be ok fro you at 16. just put the origonal c90 -c50 side cases on you shoudl be fine. i spend over £300 rebuilding a 90 with cam upgrade, high comp piston, ajustable cdi, etc etc etc youl be looky if you get an ectra 2mph than standard. lol

the chheapest and most efective upgrade would be a 110cc or 125cc in it, and if you get a 12v c50c or a cub 50 the engine is a straight swap no f**** about with electrics etc.

plus youl get away with the standard pipe with a 125cc, any larger youl need somrthing like herrods pipe on his 140cc c70c. :)
