mz saxon sportster 125

Post by bub2006 » Thu May 02, 2013 1:17 am

After my bit of a to do with the law the robin is up for sale. I put a small deposit down on a local mz. Do we have any two stroke enthusiasts in the house?! I just wondering as to reliability, mpg and such like? Its a 1997 on a r plate with 33k on the clock. Had a rebuild last year along with numerous receipts for other bits and bobs, tyres, brake switch etc. Only got one months tax and test but the seller said to take it to him at mot time and he will pay for the test as he is certain it will go through. Private seller by the way,not a dealer. Hoping to buy a cub too at some point, but with the way prices are its looking like a project bike or god forbid a innova!! Any response welcome. Thanks

if you want a MZ get a classic one, A TS, ETZ etc, hell if you were closer id have flogged you my KH125 Kwak cheap! at least i know she's a good un with less than 12000 miles on her still. lots of us on here have strokers, so if you do get this bike, feel free to ask away.

I put a deposit down on it already mate. Its got a fair whack of history with it too. And as mentioned he is paying for the mot too. Only cost £425 so cant really grumble. Not worried about engine grenading as that was rebuilt with new crank seals last June.

if it's transport you want, the Innova's infinitely better. A Stroker MZ, especially one with 33k on the clock, is going to be a hobby bike. innovas may not have the 'looks' of a classic C90, but they are smoother, faster, more practical, more economical and a lot newer. If you can stretch to an injected one, even more so.

I found the 125 MZ ungainly and not pleasant to ride compared to the contemporary MZ 250 ETZ. ... my ex learned to ride on one before moving up to the 250 and they were chalk and cheese to ride. the 250 was properly nice, the 125 felt nasty...top heavy, funny handling, not planted on the road...horrible brakes

Its got all receipts and bills for a rebuild dine last year so mileage isn't an issue i don't think. Felt nice to ride but i am tall and like heavy bikes. Brakes felt good too but this one had a disc brake. Cant say anything about how i will like it long term or if i will gel with it as only had a small test ride. Thanks for giving me something to think about though. There is a innova on ebay for 550 with a huge pizza box on it too!
