They are trimming the box as we speak/write/type... They will be ready to be shipped tomorrow or the day after.

George you're a star thanks again for this.
I managed to more or less get my rack sorted out with the crowd in Japan and if I'm very lucky I'll have it before the Christmas hits.
I also have my single seat and sheepskin cover so very soon the bike will be nearing it's finalish image. I'm now debating panniers and if hard or soft are the way to go.
Hard involves making a heavier load bearing subframe but soft means I still have to make up a light subframe to prevent the soft panniers from rubbing against the shocks

Oh wow I didn't know Rickman themselves had made a carrier that looks that good. I almost regret having paid for the other one from Japan now.

You might find these for sale here and there. Just need to look around. I've soled my EBF Cub with this type of rack as a spare since I had 4 at the time. I definitely recommend them.Anigai wrote:Oh wow I didn't know Rickman themselves had made a carrier that looks that good. I almost regret having paid for the other one from Japan now.

Got a reply from the guys with the box! The lad started the conversation by telling me to sit down... so it wasn't good from the start. Here it goes, he said that they have the 2 boxes now ready for shipping, which is a good thing and I was waiting for the bad news at this point. The price is £95 without VAT per box. They told me that it takes a lot of work to do one box and it has a lot of additional costs as well like the lock etc. So the price is the bad news.
Now, if we get 6 or less, the price is 95 per box. If we get more than 6, the price is 80 per box (without VAT).
That's all he told me, I need to call him back with an answer.
In this case, do you want a box Anigai? Should be around £114 without shipping. If you go for it, I will have one since I've promised to get one if you have the other so we can split the costs of shipping in half. Sean is interested in having one after the new year, so no problem for me if I decide not to keep it.
PS: They also said that back in the '80s, they were charging Rickman £65 for one box. Inflation?

Hehe!!! Got another call just now. They've had a production meeting of some sort and they've decided not to charge for the setting up of these boxes.
So the price has now dropped to £80/box (without VAT) => £96 VAT included.
So that's good news!

Jasus that's brilliant I definately want the box, i only just got back from doing a bit of work down the countryside today and managed to get my new rack which is still sitting inside it's box ready to go on and I really want to have the box at the same time to do everything in one sitting.
I hope you're talking about the Sean as me since that's my real name
Gime me a PM George when you want the money, thanks a bunch

Sean from Bedford. Another Sean, my colleague at work. I had to specify since I remembered your real name from the Rickman fairings era.Anigai wrote:Jasus that's brilliant I definately want the box, i only just got back from doing a bit of work down the countryside today and managed to get my new rack which is still sitting inside it's box ready to go on and I really want to have the box at the same time to do everything in one sitting.

I will try to call them tomorrow morning, not sure if they work on Saturdays. If not, first thing on Monday.
Won't ask for any money till I have them here with me and ready to be shipped.
Will keep you posted.

Looks like the company i bought my rack from screwed up.
It's supposed to be a 2 piece rack however they only sent me the one piece which is useless without the other, still no reply from them either.
I;m glad I bought this via PayPal because I can claim against them through it and get my money back but probably excluding the 63 quid i had to pay in import fees.
