Re: MT350 Anyone?
Just had a look at prices on ebay, if these go for £ 600 - £ 750 plus VAT, thats going to drag down market prices. Do you think its worth putting in a silly bid of say £ 250?
What about the panniers on a cub?

Re: MT350 Anyone?
There are some at auction on their other pages, and they usually go for a grand plus. I reckon at £300 each, you'd have to take the lot. It's a bit tempting isn't it? Then there would be transport to arrange, hire a unit to house them, then lots of energy to keep them moving before they all turn to dust......

As each one has a lot number, I thought they were being auctioned individually not all as one?

Re: MT350 Anyone?
I'm not too sure. The page I threw up was a 'For tender' page. TBH I'm not sure their site is too clear about it. I think if I was up for one, I'd go there with cash looking for a deal. It's not too far from me.fatboytours wrote:As each one has a lot number, I thought they were being auctioned individually not all as one?
I like them, but there were quite a few at the Dragon, and I did tend to think as I looked at them, 'Must've been easy getting here on that'

Re: MT350 Anyone?
I have owned an MT350 for a few years now. They are great bikes and cheap to run and easy to work on. Withams are not going to give these bikes away though and many people have been waiting for the final sell off which amounts to 132 bikes out of the original 2000 plus that were manufactured for the armed forces. Direct sales you can pay for a good running complete bike up to £1100 but remember this is plus VAT and you will need to then register them(they issue a form 654 release form which you M.O.T the bike and take the release form to a licensing centre where they will issue an age related number plate) Basket cases can also be bought direct but the there is also an auction system where the highest bid takes the item. These generally are not the best bikes and go for up to 850-900 quid. The tender bikes are a sealed bid system where you will be informed if you are successful. You can bid on several lots as long as you inform the office staff you only wish to purchase one lot. The panniers would look great on a C90 but try to buy the plastic "doughnut" mount which these slide onto and attach with a rubber bungee making them a ten second job to remove and fit. These could be adapted to fit and they also lock.Do not worry about missing keys as due to the nature of them being army bikes one key fits all and i can obtain keys without a problem as i am a member of the MT riders club. If anyone wished to bid for a pallet of plastic panniers i would buy into it as i was thinking of getting some spares so i can have my expedition kit packed in the garage at all times. If anyone wants to know about these bikes send me an e-mail stevewfrench@aol.com or PM me or just ask and i will try to answer any questions you may have.

Re: MT350 Anyone?
Sorry, forgot to mention you can bid on individual bikes. The £600 to £750 are just guide prices of what they expect to make as they have to return a percentage of the sale price back to the MOD. Of course you can bid what you can afford or what you think you can afford. It is unlikely however that they will go much below this.Remember the VAT and then the registration fee from the DVLA about £55. They have all stood a while so will need a good service, cambelt(yes they have a toothed drivebelt which has clearance and will not ruin your head if the belt ever snaps and is less than a twenty minute job to chage) They will also need new batteries, numberplate etc. I have a huge amount of spares which i liberated from the armed forces but i am always interested in getting more so i noticed all the cage pallets full of bits from Withams.
