Post by ringding » Fri Aug 01, 2014 9:21 pm

Evening,

The charity project bike is up for sale. It's a '65 C110 that has had a full restoration as detailed on the charity blog. Featured in this months Classic Motorcycle Mechanics as well.

The sale price will be added to the sponsorship total that has been collected so far.

Very, very, well done. :D

Can't have been easy letting it go, you are sir, a most generous person! Would have been nice to see you at one of the meets. If you fancy it, come along, doesn't matter what bike you turn up on.

Again, well done! :D :D :D :D :D

8-) Cheers. I actually got £2500 for it in the end so I'm really pleased. It brings the sponsorship total to ~£6.5k.

I've got a C110D to finish restoring now, which I'll sell when finished to part fund what I've put into the the project. When I've finished it I'll hunt out a few meets to come along to before moving it on. I have grown quite fond of these little bikes.

I do have enough bits for a third, but it'd be a bit of a ratter as I'm short of most of the high value parts for it (exhaust, chrome work etc,). You never know I might build one up rather than shifting the parts on.

Brilliant! Sounds like a plan! :D :D :D

That really is a magnificent amount raised for charity! Anyone can do the rides/stunts, but actually realising the cash for a good cause.... that's the real hard work. Well done! :D :D :D

Well done Paul great price for a great cause, The Next bike will hopefully get you hooked, as you know I've four bikes and my C114 would be the last to sell. Build it, ride it for a season then see how hard it will be to say goodbye.harder than finding the bits for project 3.

Well done. Im glad it made a lot more than you wanted especially as the money it sold for was going to charity.

You get a good feeling when raising money for charity. I also raise money for charity by walking in women's high heels for charity. I look like a right plonker but I also get a good feeling that far outweighs feeling like a plonker. I actually feel as if there is a good reason which there is.
Do you plan to do another charity build?
What would be good is to see if we as a club could get together and donate all unwanted parts or give our services that would ultimately end up in a complete bike that could be sold off to raise money for charity. members could donate all their unwanted parts even if its a few bolts. im also sure that someone would have a can of paint in their man cave. the bike would not have to be original, just very presentable and worth of the C90 club name.
In the ideal world the bike would be built up for zero or minimal cost. the exception would be MOT although it may be possible that someone could talk a garage into donating the cost of an MOT in the name of charity

I will get the ball rolling. i have a wheel rim in VGC. :D :D

That sounds like quite a feat Kev! Does it play havoc with your calf muscles?!

No plans for another charity build at this point. Too many jobs of my own to catch up on. I might do something similar again in the future.

I like the idea of a club build. I've seen similar things be done in the LC Club and the BSA owners club. It can work really well but you need some pretty dedicated people to pull it off. I wouldn't mind being part of it once I've gotten over this one.
