I’m hacking away at the bike bit by bit but after looking online about big bore kits I’m tempted to rebuild the engine as a 190cc

Or buy a second engine and rebuild that one because the guy said the one I got with the bike is a good one so don’t know if I should butcher it.

Anyone got a spare anf 125 for sale?

I run a similar engine in my monkey bike.
The Takegawa 181 kit is a direct replacement but do also consider the supporting mods.
Mine is pretty simple with a higher duration cam, bigger injector, ungraded clutch and free flow exhaust.
ECU wise you can reflash the standard ECU or run a standalone fully programmable unit such as Aracer.
These higher compression kit can also put additional strain on the standard starter motor, but an upgraded unit is available.
I've recently regeared the bike to reduce the rpm at speed as the engine now has quite a bit more torque, and moved from the standard monkey/Dax/cub 420 pitch chain to the bigger 428 kit.
Hope this helps and we see you out next year on one of the Ni cub runs.

Thanks Cozi, Brilliant information there it gives me a lot to go on.

Are you in NI yourself?
I didn’t realise there was a cub run I’ll be well up for that.

Here are the parts I’ve been recommended for a 190cc build.
Not shown here are the ignition timing electronics which are fully programmable an comes with a few maps written in as standard.

Apparently I have to use this even on the 2003 innova because there is a switch on the carb that advances the timing which I’ll be doing away with when I swap it out for a 34mm unit.

Did you have to machine your casings to fit the new bore?

Cheers

Hello Rob.
There is a group on Facebook that organised runs here,County Armagh Moped Club.
Here's a bit of this year meeting.

Yeah,I'm in Newtownards and we travel up to Portadown for that run, goes through Banbridge and into Newcastle.
The Takegawa kits don't require crank case boring on those msx/z125 engines.

And possibly the kitaco stuff is the same, but I think 181 is the limit before case boring.
