14.5v max

Make sure your meter is up to snuff.

That's a new one on me DD.My parents used to sell it along with thick and thin chewing tobacco.
I'm assuming it means accurate.😁

Indeed it does.

As a Lancastrian myself we have a long history of snuff useage.

I do remember Skoal Bandits in the 1980's becoming popular with 'bikers' (motorcyclist still preferred a briar pipe with Scrottocksmold Shag' or similar stinky burning products).

Hi John, Far from being an electrical guru i'm most likely a bit dense when it comes to electrics.
My hunch would be to try substitution with another similar R/R
But first i would clean all the corrosion off and cover the terminals with either silicone grease or Vaseline. Then check those voltages again.
Sorry Steve, but this has caught out far cleverer people than me and thee, but silicone is an absolute NO NO NO!

I know this from my diving days, underwater camera tech. etc. The muppets would use silicon grease/spray on underwater connectors, its A BRILLIANT INSULATOR! Never, ever use it on electrical connections, although its ok on connector seals, just don't get it on the metal connectors!

ACF50 or Vaseline makes an excellent conducting lube.

I've tested a single dot of ACF on the end of a cable, it travelled 3" up the cable inside the insulation within a month.

Silicone grease around the plug cap rubber seals works well.

15 v is only a little too high but as It been higher and probably done dammage to the battery I would not be surprised if it was back to damaging voltage during a run when hot and the engine revving

look what an ecu cost andhow hard it is to get and ask yourself it it is worth the risk!

+1 for ACF50, good for penetrating and protecting stuff. I use it on handlebar lever Micro switches and get them working properly again.
