There is a post in another section regarding a cheap self powered rev counter. For a few pound it will tell you what you need to know.

Depends on the gear ratio, final drive ratio, and rolling circumference of the tyres.

When it seizes up you know you've exceeded the rev limit. Or then again it could have been the oil you were using. Please feel free to ask away about what oil to use.

Have a look at item no.6913280449800 on eBay.They are very simple to fit and work as soon as the engine starts.I bought one from China, had too wait 4 weeks to get it but it was under fiver posted. When it arrived the leaflet said you can get them with a replaceable battery, but mine wasn't.So check them out.

Ah thank you for the invitation to reply :P . There are many oils on the market today, however my preferred viscosity is 5/40 fully synthetic. Make of oil, in my opinion, is immaterial. Please feel free to join in everyone :D .

Why 5/40 sir when Honda manual says 10/30?

Simply because I know better than Honda. 30 weight is too low a viscosity for the Cub engine.

What's voscistity, viscucity, vitycosity? Is it something to do with thickness ? Mrs Harry say's I have a high viscosity...should I be worried?
