Anyone ever polished these marks out?
Yes, my GSX1400 came with cases much worse than that. Some "proper" Nitromors to get the lacquer off and a back-of-MCN-small-ads polishing kit consigned 'em to history. :)
Cap'n, once polished, did you relacquer?

No, and never needed to even using the bike through 2 Winters.

I buffed it up once a year but kept it looking nice by wiping down with an oily rag.

I've only ever re-lacquered one thing and that was the alloy rear fender struts on my first Harley Sportster.

After a year they'd chipped and furred up again, probably because I couldn't get the lacquer hard enough to match the OEM stuff.

I Nitromor'd that layer off, re-polished them and left them at that.

Been a busy boy servicing this beauty.
Four new iridium plugs
Air filter
Chain cleaned and lubed
Silkolene oil change and oil filter (billyfix)
Chain adjustment (billyfix)
Battery charging lead fitted
Gipro gear indicator
Oxford heated grips

.......... and whether it's all in your head or not, doesn't the bike go better once it's had a service?

How many miles have you done, and are you enjoying it, that's the question? :)

Haven't done any great distance but done around 400 miles in a fortnight.
It would be very difficult not to enjoy it. It's very comfortable and nimble despite its weight. In fact, after the RT I don't really notice any weight. It's like getting back to "real" motorcycling.
I'm getting 46 mpg which I can't complain about, considering the "lump".
It oozes that Honda build quality and no pennies spared with the paint finish .
I have to own up , and many will know what I mean, that I find myself just standing back and looking at it.
Suffice to say, I am very happy. I like Honda's.

I think Honda quality is superb. I was down at Orwell Motorcycles today to pick up a battery for the XL350. Had a mooch around, they mainly have Suzuki and Kawasaki Crotch rockets. Didn't fire me up at all. And they all looked the same! No character at all.

But with some 14 bikes, there's a lot to be said for simply wheeling a bike out of the garage, and riding it, as I'm discovering!
