Can anyone recommend low-cost saddlebags that go under the saddle of my Innova please? It's mainly to increase the grocery carrying capacity, so doesn't need to be too waterproof. If it's that wet, I'll take the car.

I did think about Army surplus. Yours look great DD and they match my paintwork. Do they just dangle (the bags that is) or do you secure them at the bottom?

There is a bit more to them than you would think, a quadrant dowel is multi-zip tied to the upper inside seam and a round dowell to the outside, a plastic toolbox (without the lid) sits in the bottom I'd each one.

Liners are rubble sacks - tough, waterproof and the correct size for a roll-top.

That picture was taken when they were new; they look a lot more threadbare now with multi repairs from a few 'off's and have been stitched back together with dental floss, waxed string, and a bit of twine.

But yes they just dangle from the straps.

Just thought, if I can modify a couple of cabin bags, we can save a fortune on airport parking. :)

But I just checked. Most airports including Heathrow offer free bike parking. Birmingham is the same as cars. Miserable gits!

I think leaving a C90 in airport parking whilst on holiday for 2 weeks would be chancing it - even with a chain suited to securing a North Sea oil rig.

A 'taxi 90' however could be a winner :D

You will find that with a bit of DIYing, most rear cycle panniers will fit under the seat. I used velcro fastening to go under the seat and thin elastic string to fasten the bottom of the bags to the footpegs. Mine are all the time and are solid. You need to make sure they are far enough forward, not to obstruct the rear indicator lights.

I also use motorbike pannier in the same way.

I often have Jannie on the back and so its important that the straps go under the seat so she is not sitting on them. It also means you do not have to unfasten them to fuel up.
