What if the OE tank was sealed and the higher aux tank was vented ?
And large bore pipe was used ?
Edit,
don't think so cos you wouldn't be able to fill it again once empty.

3 litre tank and on off tap is easy just find out where the gauge is when you have room for another 3l .That should give you about 200 miles..

Top box tank would be your easiest option, but would take up valuable top box space when touring, I would bite the bullet and have a custom tank made, using all the available space under the seat utilising the original fuel pump, how often would you need to get to the battery...if it goes flat the bike can be easily bump started... But hey its easy to say when your spending someone else's money

I have pizza box mounting rack on It's way so when that arrives I will look at the space available. These racks are quite clever as they place the pizza box over the pillion part of the seat and slide backwards for refuelling. Pretty strong too as they have long arms that reach to the pillion foot rests for extra support.
I'm reckoning that with a big top box there will still be room for some sort of tank.

Suppose so, if you can get say a 45 litre plus box on it, then you should have plenty of room .

Purchase another old seat for touring and wack an hole in it above the filler cap ! ! all padding above can all be removed back to the plastic and trimmed with gaffer that was my intention ! ! will also give a lower gravity weight for your luggage .
Then you can experiment with another fuel cap for pipe drilling & tank/fuel container & tap for the refill either above or in the back box .
Cheers vk. .
