Is the throttle really just an "on and off switch" on these CVT bikes?

Ours responds better when it's used regularly. If it's left a week it coughs and splutters a fair bit until it's warmed up and had a good thrash.

That's pretty much it for the Ludix and similar 'peds. Two position throttle - Park and full-on.

Well I went out to the shed again this morning - choke on and one prod of the kick starter and away she went once more!

I did a bit of re-routing the fat pipe that goes into the air box to see if that might have been part of the problem - It was a bit pinched at the end restricting the air flow.

Not had it out for a blast yet but I'll hopefully verify later this week if it helped at all.

Could have an effect on it.

Ours was shortened severely to allow easy access for blocking it before fitting the manual choke. therefore, if you feel like cutting it, snip away. I can confirm that it doesn't harm a thing.

Have to admit I'm a bit of a convert to leavings things as standard these days, if only I'd left my Suzuki X7 standard - it would be worth twice the price today!

There's a guy coming to collect the X7 today, coincidentally - I've owned it since 1983 and sold it in 1984 when I joined the army, bought it back from the chap I sold it to in 1986 and had it ever since!

There will be a bit of a space in the shed after all these years!

I probably mentioned before that I used to proddy race on an X7 in t'80s.

My eye starts to twitch thinking about it, even now!

Had the scoot oot for a wee blast to see how it was running - started instantly once more, which, is good news.

Still finding a bit of hesitation and not pulling cleanly - I'm not sure if I need to clean the carb again or not but it didn't feel like that before the choke was replaced.....

I'm having to nurse the throttle somewhat to get up to speed.

Is this anything like the situation you have with yours if it's not been run for a while?

Only when it's cold. Once it is warmed up, throttle response is clean and instantaneous.

How long does yours take to warm up?
